This Week in Health

Hello Health students!

First, I want to wish you well on your exam this week. It covers the basic neuroanatomy and behavior that we have been covering and for which you should be well prepared for. I look forward to seeing how everyone does!

Later this week, after the exam, we will talk a little bit about the topic of motivation, and ask ourselves the question, "why do people get started doing risky behaviors in the first place?" It is a look inward, to who we are, and we will hopefully learn a little bit about ourselves in the process.

Also, we will see another Project Day this week that will give you time to construct your posters for the Poster Project. And don't forget to bring your project books to class this week (hint, hint)!

Good luck, and see you all very soon!

Health Project 2 - The Poster Project

Hello Health students!

Your second major Health project is upon us! The Poster Project begins today, and over time will see you produce a poster displaying your health message for all the campus to see!

In class today, you chose your group members (4 members per group) and discussed a potential topic and specific health-based message your group will work with. You also outlined your topic and approach, and submitted it for approval.

Beginning next week, we will be putting the finishing touches on your topics and will begin work on the actual posters themselves.

Here are a few things to keep in mind:

- This is a chance to be creative, so take advantage of it!

- The posters will be 24" x 36" in size.

- A blank poster will be made available to you, but you will need to provide what other materials you may need.

- You can use print-outs, cut-outs, pictures, drawings, etc, to make your poster unique and exciting!

- We will have "Poster Days," or time set aside to work on your posters with your group in-class.

- The tentative due dates will be 4 weeks from this upcoming Monday.

If you have any questions, please let me know! And remember, there is a lot of potential to be had with this project, so have fun with it!

Schedule Adjustment

Hello Health students!

Due to the revised testing schedule next week, we will be moving the lectures on behavior to the following week and setting up the Poster and Running projects this week and next. I think this new schedule will make for a much more relaxed testing environment.

Good luck!

"Super Size Me" Worksheet Preview

Hello Health students!

Welcome back. I hope that you enjoyed the long weekend! We're going to get right back into things now that we have all returned, so I hope you're ready!

Below is a link to the questions you can expect to find on the "Super Size Me" worksheet we will be filling out later this week. Take a look at, and when doing so, keep in mind that while it looks very substantial, we will be talking about the movie in great detail in-class, so it is much less work than it seems to be.

We will be finishing up the film, completing the worksheet, and reviewing the material we have covered over the past two weeks as we prepare for Friday's exam. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!
